Job summary
Seabury Corporate Finance a subsidiary of Seabury Capital Group is looking to hire an experienced Associate to join its dynamic investment banking team in NY.

The Associate is responsible for directing analysts on the analytical work in support of new business development and transaction execution.  Seabury Corporate Finance believes in staffing deals with smaller teams, this structure creates a strong platform for Associates to learn and develop investment banking skills further and assume high level of responsibility at early stages of their careers.  As part of the team, Associates will work on transactions that provide exposure to various clients in the Aviation, Aerospace and Defense industry and will develop skill sets in fundamentals of valuations, business strategy and client communications.

The environment at Seabury Capital Group is collegial and entrepreneurial, and as such Associates are encouraged to take on as much responsibility as they can successfully handle.   Associates are expected to lead the preparation work on a variety of strategic advisory assignments including; sell-side and buy-side M&A engagements; divestitures and spin-off engagements; equity and equity-linked capital-raising; debt and restructuring advisory and, more broadly, evaluation of strategic alternatives. Additionally, Associates will have the opportunity to gain exposure to some of the firm’s merchant banking efforts.

Seabury’s investment banking business is global in nature and the Associate will be able to work on cross-border transactions in close concert with Seabury’s European team based in London.

Principle Areas of Responsibility and Accountability

  • Work extensively on a broad range of financial transactions including, but not limited to: mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt capital raising, deal underwriting and financial due diligence
  • Responsible for managing day-to-day deal execution, mentoring and guiding Analysts, and reviewing and signing off on Analyst work product
  • Update VPs/SVPs on project status / progress on a regular basis
  • Proactively determine project next steps
  • Direct Analysts, and participate, in developing and maintaining financial models
  • Responsible for developing first drafts of presentations, written documents including client marketing materials (teasers, information memos, management presentations), pitches, etc. for VP/SVP review
  • Participate in client meetings
  • Execute operational and financial due diligence
  • Complete industry and company research, quantitative analyses and company valuation analyses
  • Support efforts in developing and executing marketing strategies for the firm, including pitch development
  • Identify and assist in pursuing new business opportunities where appropriate

Required Experience, Qualifications, and Skills

  • Strong financial modeling aptitude and prior relevant experience including but not limited to valuations, cash flow analysis, and balance sheet analysis
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills
  • Superior communication skills, written and verbal
  • Highly motivated self-starter able to work within a close-knit team environment and work independently
  • Outstanding competency in valuations and financial analysis
  • A critical thinker who can quickly and accurately evaluate and analyze companies and financial information
  • Exceptional attention to detail

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance preferred, MBA is a plus
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of investment banking or debt capital markets experience
  • Previous aviation, aerospace & defense, transportation & logistics, industrial industry experience a plus, but not a requirement
