NEW YORK – August 25, 2014 – SGI Aviation Services B.V., a Seabury Capital company, today has announced the appointment of Paolo Lironi as Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The appointment comes after the news earlier in the month of the sudden passing of Wadick Chomyszyn, longtime SGI Aviation CEO.
Paolo Lironi has assumed the interim CEO role from his current position of Executive Director, where he has had a strong track record in aircraft leasing, contract negotiation, redeliveries, buyouts, and end-of-life scenario planning. Mr. Lironi’s clients include financial institutions, lessors, and commercial airlines.
“I am very proud of the dedicated team at SGI Aviation and the strength they have exuded in recent weeks following the tragic loss of our friend and CEO, Wadick Chomyszyn,” said SGI Aviation Chairman and Seabury Capital Chairman & CEO John E. Luth. “Paolo Lironi has always been integral to the success of SGI Aviation and he possesses the breadth of knowledge, experience and leadership that the company needs during this very critical time. The best years are still ahead for SGI Aviation and we look with confidence to Paolo’s leadership in accomplishing the strategy in regard to the future of the company and its growth.”
Mr. Lironi originally joined SGI Aviation in 2008. He has more than 10 years of experience in commercial aviation in the areas of managing engines and technical issues, negotiating MRO & lease contracts, and dealing with OEMs. Prior to SGI Aviation, he was Director of Engine Services at IASG, in addition to his previous experience in working for various airlines and aviation groups, including TES and AZZURRAair, and Volare. Mr. Lironi holds an MBA from MIP, School of Business. A graduate of Politecnico di Milano in Milan, Italy, Mr. Lironi also holds a degree in Aerospace Engineering and a Master’s degree in Aerodynamics.
“I appreciate the confidence the Board and the Management Team have placed in me with my appointment as Interim CEO. Everyone at SGI Aviation looks back with gratitude for the many good years of working with Wadick, and we are committed to continuing his vision for the future and growth of our company,” said Paolo Lironi. “I feel privileged to take the lead of SGI Aviation at this critical time and have provided the Management Team my ongoing commitment to continue to move the company forward.”
